Warlock Expectations

We look for key qualities in warlocks that apply to Occam's Razor.

  • Willing to PvE to PvE. This includes, but is not limited to, getting attuned to new instances, farming for resist gear (i.e., NR/FR gear), and upgrading gear where possible (i.e., Badges of Justice, Offnight Content, Gems, Enchants, etc.).
  • Be well geared. Warlock candidates should have gear equivalent or better then our current content level, with a focus on +dmg and +crit gear, keeping in mind the amount +hit needed to make them efficient in their specific spec.
  • Have the gear outlined on the main recruitment page as well as meet any other requirements listed.
  • Have a willingness to use any of your curses when called upon and to know when to use which.
  • Have a knowledge of when to banish/enslave (or not to for that matter).
  • Be aware of your agro level (or be willing to respec Master Demonologist if it becomes an issue).
  • Have a good attitude. This guild acts a lot like a family. We are looking for exceptional warlocks that fit into this family with their style of gameplay as well as their attitude (as a member, you will be representing the guild, not just yourself).

SPECS

Warlocks do not have specific spec requirements as of right now, but we require you to be willing to respec if it is necessary to help the guild progress. Our thoughts are that if you are really here for the better of the guild, you will respec to something that will help the guild progress without our having to have spec requirements. This decision may change as we progress or ask you to fill certain roles (i.e., maintank bosses in current content).

That being said, we realize that some people think that certain specs seem to be better then others. Here are a few suggestions that we would like to make.

  1. No matter what build you choose, Improved IMP (IMP IMP) and Improved Healthstone (IMP HS) are a plus for any raiding guild. We do not require these, but our preference would be that you have points in at least one of these two skills. Our current warlock builds make it possible they all raid members can carry 3 different sizes of HS. We may request that some warlocks change their spec a little so that there is more then one type of HS available for raids.
  2. Again, not a requirement, we would suggest putting points into Dark Pact or Improved Life Tap to help with mana regeneration.
  3. Demonology - If you are going demonology, we would suggest getting Demonic Sacrifice (DS) or Master Demonlogist (MD). We strongly recommend MD for anyone that has a problem with drawing agro. There are several agro sensitive fights and having MD will help keep the raid alive. DS is very versatile. It allows you to increase DPS when necessary, or increase mana/health regeneration depending on the encounter and the make up of the raid.
  4. Destruction - For this build, there is the all so common spec (0/21/40).
  5. Affliction - Most points here are well spent. Putting points into unstable affliction instead of picking up ruin tends to result in higher DPS, unless you have ~25% or higher crit rating.
  6. All specs should include points in threat reduction unless you have been asked to step up as a MT.

If you need more information about specs, The Warlock's Guide to Raiding may come in handy. It is a good source of raiding specs and contains a link to see how much certain items will increase your DPS. You could also do more research on various forums to see what specs you could bring to the table to increase your performance.
